More Than 5,000 Representatives From 80 Countries Gather to Discuss Investment, Technology and Asia-Pacific Cooperation.
On Tuesday, the 11th Eastern Economic Forum (EEF) opened with more than 5,000 representatives gathering to discuss cooperation and investment aimed at strengthening ties between Russia’s vast, resource-rich Far East and the rest of the world.

The four-day annual event, held under the theme “The Far East: Development for the Benefit of People,” has drawn government officials, businesspeople, experts and researchers from 80 countries.
The agenda, covering more than 100 sessions, includes investment, the application of science and technology, logistics and infrastructure, and cooperation in the Asia-Pacific region.
Over the years, the Eastern Economic Forum has also created opportunities for Russia and its Asia-Pacific partners to advance ties in logistics, industry and energy.
In a welcoming message, Russian President Vladimir Putin said the forum has established itself as a platform for “open, constructive dialogue” among business circles, government bodies and experts.

During his address at the EEF on Tuesday, Vladislav Maslennikov, director of the Russian Foreign Ministry’s Department of European Affairs, said China, India, Belarus and many other nations are seeking to strengthen their cooperation ties with Russia, particularly to develop joint projects in the Arctic.
“Russia is ready for dialogue with all those who demonstrate a constructive and pragmatic approach to finding diplomatic solutions to all issues arising in the region,” he said.
“China and India not only declare their readiness to work in the Arctic, but also possess significant resources to implement joint initiatives,” Maslennikov said, according to the TASS news agency.
