“I will be forever grateful to the Cuban doctors who treated me.” Dr. Anna Bloomfield recently traveled to Cuba as part of a Hatuey Project delegation and fell ill during the trip with a bacterial infection. She spoke to BT about the care she received and denounced the US blockade, which has severely impacted the functioning of Cuba’s hospitals. “By ending this blockade, the Cuban health care system will be able to flourish in a way that I don’t know if the developed world has seen before,” Bloomfield asserted. Bloomfield was part of a panel discussion in Chicago featuring Cuba solidarity activists and health workers who traveled to the island to deliver aid to hospitals.
