Mexico City, August 30 (SinEmbargo).— The national president of Morena, Ariadna Montiel, delivered a forceful message to those aspiring to run for a candidacy representing the party, stating that, should they win the internal poll, if it comes to light that they have “a questionable past,” that candidacy will not be endorsed.
During the fifth plenary meeting of Morena’s parliamentary group in the Senate, Montiel noted that the people elected a legislative representation made up mostly of her movement, together with the President, and that this implies a “great historic responsibility.”
What we will not allow is for people with unmentionable ties to represent us.

She reiterated the commitment to never accept “someone who has pending accounts, a questionable past, or actions that prevent them from being part of this transformation.”
The leader specified that the restriction is not limited to candidacies**: “It’s not only about being candidates; they cannot be part of this transformation, because they put the viability of our movement at risk.”**
In this regard, she made clear the criterion that will be applied: “We reiterate that whoever wins the poll and has a bad record will not be a candidate. And we also ask you to support us in not inviting people with bad records, because we are going to tell them no.”
Montiel explained that the evaluations rely on the National Justice Commission, which she described as “the chalice of these evaluations.” She called on legislators to hold the line on principles and not be swayed by “frivolities” or scandals, nor to fall into “the narrative of the right” in the face of accusations in the media or on social networks.
