A CHARITY has urged ex-service members impacted by the army’s historical gay ban to request compensation as data shows people in certain parts of the Britain were less likely to come forward.North-east England, Yorkshire, south-west England and Scotland have all seen unexpectedly low financial redress claims, Fighting With Pride revealed yesterday.The charity believes also fewer women have come forward to apply for the government financial compensation scheme for the “gay ban” in the armed forces, in place from 1967 to 2000.
