Acting President Delcy Rodriguez met this Friday with the Presidents of CONMEBOL and the Venezuela’s Football Federation (FVF) to strengthen sports cooperation and modernize the country’s football infrastructure.
The Acting President Delcy Rodríguez received Alejandro Domínguez, President of the South American Football Confederation (CONMEBOL), and Jorge Giménez, President of the Venezuelan Football Federation (FVF) this Friday. The meeting sought to strengthen international sports relations and boost the country’s football infrastructure.
The approach follows the visit of Domínguez and Giménez to Lara state, where construction began on the National High-Performance Center (CNAR, in Spanish), destined for the integral preparation of the national selections.

The recently encounter established new cooperation spaces for the consolidation of public policies aimed at a massive sports impulse and the modernization of high-performance venues and seeks to position the country as a reference pole for hosting high-level continental competitions, with the recognition that CONMEBOL provides as the governing body of regional football.
The alliance highlights the intention of the Bolivarian government to raise the level of local football and join the circuit of the most relevant tournaments in the region.

Hosting Continental Competitions
The continental dimension adds weight to the encounter: CONMEBOL organizes the two competitions that the South American country aspires to reach with regularity, the American Coup (Copa América, in Spanish) and the Liberators Cup (Copa Libertadores, in Spanish). A place in that circuit would connect the local clubs and the national team with the highest level of South American football.
The cooperation spaces are designed to consolidate public policies for a massive sports impulse, meanwhiles the modernization of high-performance venues appears as one of the central lines of that effort.
The National High-Performance Center (CNAR) project represents the most concrete expression of the plan so far as the centre will serve the training of the men’s and women’s teams, the youth divisions and the technical staff that accompany them.
For the local football ecosystem, the implications could go beyond the selection. Better infrastructure, more international contacts and a place in the continental circuit would benefit the leagues, the clubs and the training schools across the country.

No dates were announced for the completion of the National High-Performance Center, nor for the presentation of a formal candidacy to host a continental tournament, but the signal, however, is explicit: the national government wants to raise the level of its football and join the regional circuit, with the support of the body that governs the sport on the continent.
