Former Colombian President Gustavo Petro denounced massive voter manipulation in Colombia’s recent presidential elections and called for the annulment of the results, citing a forensic analysis of Argentinian operator Fernando Cerimedo’s phone which, he said, reveals a nexus with Colombian officials to subvert the popular will.
According to Petro, the manipulation involved more than two million bots and fake profiles managed by automated farms operating from abroad and the city of Medellín. He urged judicial authorities to prosecute Cerimedo and Javier Negre, founders of the portal La Derecha Diario, which is a platform known for supporting right-wing governments and attacking progressivism, the left, and social movements in the region.

The former president pointed to a financing fund composed of mafia money and public resources from Medellín, aimed at funding the owners of bot farms in Miami, United States. Petro asserted that computer irregularities were recorded at 1,350 polling stations, claiming that software gave an advantage to the current president, Abelardo De la Espriella, and that the true winner of the free vote would have been candidate Iván Cepeda.
He further stated that the Attorney General’s Office was falsely threatened with the U.S. Treasury Department’s OFAC list—similar to a threat he himself received—but emphasized that its duty to the people is to prosecute crime.

Petro also criticized the stance of the new National Electoral Council following decisions by the governor of Boyacá, reproaching the governor for failing to engage in dialogue despite the progressive support he had received.
Additionally, the ex-president urged the filing of formal complaints before the UN Human Rights Commission over the alleged massive violation of the right to elect and be elected in several countries, including Colombia, Honduras, El Salvador, Ecuador, Peru, Chile, Mexico, Brazil, and Argentina.
Regarding Cerimedo, the 45-year-old Argentinian political strategist rose from relative obscurity to become a key digital articulator for far-right currents in Latin America, gaining prominence through his involvement in Javier Milei’s 2023 presidential campaign. Cerimedo himself has confirmed his management of thousands of automated profiles and fictitious accounts to viralize favorable messages on social networks, publicly acknowledged his role in discrediting tactics against political opponents, and expressed total commitment to Milei’s project.
