National Sovereignty Above All Other InterestsPresident Claudia Sheinbaum will propose a bill requiring candidates for the presidency, state governors, and the Head of the Mexico City Government to hold only Mexican citizenship or renounce any other. The goal is “for the nation’s interest to take precedence over any other,” she explained.

A Candidacy Launched from Another CountryRegarding the presidential aspirations of former Tamaulipas governor Francisco Garcia Cabeza de Vaca, the President quipped that “it’s very difficult to be a candidate and launch that campaign from another country, isn’t it?”. Cabeza de Vaca lives in Texas.

Mexico Does Not Abandon Its CompatriotsIn response to the deaths of Mexican nationals in ICE custody, the government filed complaints and demanded a full investigation. Sheinbaum asked the Ministry of Foreign Relations to press Marco Rubio on the issue. “We do not agree with the treatment our Mexican brothers and sisters are receiving,” the President explained.

Mexico Does Not Belong to Any Political PartyThe President backed the resolution calling for Somos México, which seeks its registration as a new political party, to change its name, emblem, and colors. No political party can appropriate the national identity, she said, pointing out the contradiction the opposition faces. “Previously, they demanded that the National Electoral Institute (INE) remain untouched, and now they’re using the INE’s colors.”

La Derecha Diario: Lies and Foreign InterferenceSheinbaum revealed that right-wing ideologue Fernando Cerimedo was a partner at La Derecha Diario when he was arrested in Bolivia, despite owner Javier Negre’s denial, and added that the media outlet “has sought to interfere in Mexican politics from abroad.”

Audience Rights, Without CensorshipThe new guidelines will ensure codes of ethics, audience ombudsmen, and effective complaint submission mechanisms, without penalizing content or opinions. The President was clear. We have always fought for freedom of expression, she said.
