It’s been one year of federal occupation in Washington, DC. The occupation has made life dangerous for the most vulnerable: Black and brown youth, undocumented workers, and the unhoused bear the brunt of it. The result: multiple deaths from police shootings, the criminalization of homelessness and destruction of encampments, and over 20,000 arrested by ICE. DC was Trump’s first laboratory for deploying the National Guard and surging ICE agents – but the people are fighting back.
