Since 2022, Ukraine has managed to assassinate several Russian generals and senior Defense Ministry commanders.

On Thursday, the Fontanka news portal reported that a Russian army officer was killed in a bomb attack in the city of St. Petersburg.

The Russian Aerospace Forces lieutenant colonel died as a result of the explosion of an explosive device placed underneath his car. His wife was also seriously injured in the attack and has been hospitalized.

In this regard, Russia’s Investigative Committee said it had opened a criminal case over the death at the same location of a person inside his car, without providing further details.

The explosion took place in front of a Magnit chain store in a neighborhood where a large number of military personnel live. At the scene, police and bomb disposal units were inspecting the area for a second bomb in cars parked nearby.

At the beginning of August, five people were killed in a bomb attack at a restaurant in central Moscow, where the commander in chief of the Russian Aerospace Forces, Alexandr Chaiko, was dining and celebrating his 55th birthday.

Shortly afterward, another bomb attack injured Vladimir Tkachuk, director of the Russian company Uraldronzavod, which specializes in the production of Upir FPV kamikaze drones.

Since Russia’s special military operation began in 2022, Ukrainian intelligence services have managed to assassinate several Russian generals and senior Defense Ministry commanders.

The most recent case was that of Russian army General Staff operations chief Fanil Sarvarov, who was killed in Moscow last December as a result of a car bomb explosion.
