The Treasury Department said these solidarity organizations pose threats to U.S. national security.

On Wednesday, the U.S. Department of the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) designated the UK-based direct-action group Palestine Action, the international Palestine advocacy organization Masar Badil, and the Italy-based digital security group Autistici Inventati as “Specially Designated Global Terrorists” (SDGT).

State Department spokesperson Tommy Pigott justified the decision by arguing that the organizations “form part of transnational far-left terrorist networks” and threaten the national security of the United States and its allies.

“Far-left terrorism poses a profound threat to the United States and the broader West. Today, the United States sanctioned several transnational far-left terrorist networks, including Autistici/Inventati – a major far-left tech collective whose services are used by the most active and violent Antifa cells in the United States and across the world,” Secretary of State Marco Rubio posted on X.

“There will be no refuge for violent extremists who wage war on our civilization and plot to undermine law and order, destroy critical infrastructure, assault political opponents, or conspire to conceal their crimes from authorities. We will use all the tools and authorities at our disposal to fight terrorism and protect our way of life from terrorist coercion,” he added.

The text reads, “The Trump administration has just sanctioned Palestine Action, as well as Masar Badil and Autistici Inventati, designating them as ‘specially designated global terrorists.’ This is a very serious attack that concerns the entire Palestine solidarity movement!”

The Treasury Department maintains that Palestine Action “has supported numerous acts of terrorism since July 2020, including acts that have caused physical injuries to members of British law enforcement, as well as actions intended to intimidate legitimate businesses and coerce” the U.K. government.

The OFAC decision complements the declaration by the British government that designated Palestine Action as an illegal terrorist organization in July 2025.

Washington also maintains that the organization Masar Badil operates as a front for the Samidoun Palestinian Prisoner Solidarity Network, which was sanctioned by the United States and Canada in 2024.

“Masar Badil is inextricably linked to Samidoun and one of its senior leaders has described it as part of the same political project,” the Treasury Department insisted and designated Rawa Alsagheer, based in Brazil, and Zaid Abdulnasser, based in Germany, “for being leaders or officials” of the organization.

“The SDGT designation freezes any and all of the groups’ assets within the U.S., and criminalizes U.S. citizens, banks, and entities doing business or engaging in financial transactions with them, freezing them out of the U.S.-dominated global financial system. Individuals associated with the groups could also face a lifetime ban from entering the U.S.,” the digital outlet Vocal Politics explained.

Today’s sanctions add to similar measures against other left-wing groups and the designation as foreign terrorist organizations of entities linked to the Antifa movement, which has been targeted by U.S. President Donald Trump.

“Since when is developing encrypted chat, email, and web hosting a crime? The Trump administration is criminalizing a collective like the Italian Autistici Inventati, whose tech tools can be used by anyone,” commented Stefania Maurizi, an investigative journalist who worked on all WikiLeaks releases.
