Venezuela and Barbados signed and ratified a joint declaration this Monday to strengthen bilateral cooperation, during an official meeting at Miraflores Palace between Acting President Delcy Rodríguez and Prime Minister Mia Mottley.
Venezuelan Acting President Delcy Rodríguez held an official meeting with Prime Minister Mia Mottley of Barbados on August 24 in the Miraflores Palace, in which both authorities proceeded to sign and ratify a joint declaration on behalf of their respective nations.
This ratification gives continuity to the cooperation between both parties through the agreements established last April, when Acting President Rodríguez carried out an official visit to the Caribbean nation. That visit laid the foundations for a work agenda that now receives formal expression with the signing of this instrument.

The meeting in Caracas confirms the political will of both governments to consolidate a relationship that transcends protocols and translates into concrete benefits for the population. The act was framed within the context of the historic ties between Venezuela and the Caribbean, a region with which the Bolivarian nation maintains deep cooperation links through mechanisms such as PetroCaribe and the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America (ALBA-TCP).

With the signature of this formal instrument, both governments set as a primary goal the progress in strategic areas destined to mutual development and the direct benefit of the population of both countries. Energy cooperation, trade exchange, tourism and technical assistance constitute traditional pillars of the bilateral relationship. The Venezuelan government has promoted, through successive agreements, the supply of fuel under preferential conditions and cooperation programs in health, education and infrastructure for Caribbean nations.
The continuity of the dialogue between Caracas and Bridgetown demonstrates the vitality of South-South cooperation, a principle that guides Venezuelan foreign policy. For the Caribbean states, the relationship with Venezuela represents a strategic link for regional stability and economic complementarity.
Both leaders agreed to maintain the rhythm of consultations and to advance the implementation of the commitments assumed. The joint declaration reinforces the path of unity that characterizes the relations between Venezuela and the peoples of the Caribbean basin, in line with the integrationist vocation promoted by the region.
