Israeli airstrikes targeting Gaza’s Nuseirat refugee camp and a warehouse in the nearby town of Al-Zawayda killed at least one person — a 4-year-old child — and injured at least six others on Sunday, with video from the scene showing a massive fireball sending black smoke and shrapnel into the sky. One eyewitness said Israel is believed to have targeted an individual near the camp, before calling a resident and telling him everyone had to evacuate. “The camp shelters around 100 people from a single family, and now they are scattered across the streets," he added. It is unclear what the warehouse targeted in Al-Zawayda contained, though Israeli strikes on Gaza warehouses earlier this month destroyed two large medicine storage facilities, exacerbating hospital shortages. More than 1,200 Palestinians have been killed by Israel since a US-brokered “ceasefire” went into effect in October 2025, per Gaza Health Ministry figures.
