Venezuelan Acting President Delcy Rodríguez inspected cleanup and road-clearing works in Caracas on Sunday and reported that the Valle River overflowed early that morning, following torrential rains on Saturday caused by Tropical Wave Number 40, which triggered an emergency in Greater Caracas and surrounding areas.

The acting head of government acknowledged the performance of brigades that worked until late at night and managed to clear the roadway in record time after landslides and debris from the intense rains.

She highlighted the work of Civil Protection, firefighters, state governments, and mayors’ offices in addressing damage in Caracas, Los Teques, and Maracay. She further called on citizens to develop ecological awareness and to refrain from throwing solid waste into streams and water channels.

Security forces and the Civil Protection System remain deployed and constantly monitoring vulnerable points in Greater Caracas to guarantee mobility and citizen safety, according to the acting president.
