Colombia earthquake damage after magnitude-7.4 earthquake

The Aug. 10 magnitude-7.4 earthquake has left 4,600 people injured and 247 missing, Colombia’s disaster agency said.


The death toll from Colombia’s magnitude-7.4 earthquake has risen to 329, with 4,600 people injured and 247 still missing, the National Unit for Disaster Risk Management (UNGRD) said Friday.

The earthquake, which struck on Aug. 10, affected 16 departments and 481 municipalities, leaving 314,751 people and 154,014 families affected, according to the agency’s latest assessment.

Authorities have also reported 364 people rescued.

The disaster caused extensive damage to homes and buildings. A total of 171,273 homes were damaged and 31,183 destroyed, while 553 buildings collapsed.

The earthquake damaged 367 health centers, 3,710 educational facilities and 5,584 community centers, the UNGRD said.
