Earlier this month, Tyson abruptly closed its Joslin, Illinois plant, leaving over 2,500 workers jobless overnight. Now workers are organizing to take a stand against Tyson’s illegal and abrupt layoffs, demanding six months of full compensation and benefits regardless of workers’ immigration status. Workers are also demanding that the governor work with Tyson to repurpose the plant within the company and potentially save their jobs. Governor Pritzker says the state is actively talking with the company.
