The text reads, “Two decades after the start of functions and specialized medical care of the Dr. Gilberto Rodriguez Ochoa Latin American Children’s Cardiac Hospital, President Delcy Rodriguez led a commemorative event in which she highlighted a history in which more than 15,400 boys and girls have successfully undergone such a complex surgery, derived from heart disease. ‘This children’s cardiology hospital makes your heartbeat stronger in Venezuela. Because every time we save a boy or a girl, it means returning life to a child and restoring hope to a mother, a father, a family,’ she assured and claimed immediate attention for the boys, girls and young people who come to this center: ‘At most they will have three or four weeks for a response to the heart disease they are presenting’.”

Over these 20 years, the hospital has provided specialized care to thousands of children and young people, as well as developed programs focused on the diagnosis, treatment and monitoring of cardiovascular diseases.

During her visit to the Children’s Cardiological Hospital, Venezuelan President Rodriguez recognized the work of doctors, nurses, specialists, technical personnel, and workers who have been part of the institution over the past two decades.

“This Children’s Cardiological Hospital makes Venezuela, the beat of its heart, stronger. Because every time we save a boy or girl, it is giving life back to a child and returning hope to a mother, a father, a family,” she said.

Rodriguez also referred to special plans implemented to respond to medical care demands and overcome difficulties associated with the economic blockade. She pointed out the speed and operational capacity of the medical response provided by the specialized center.

“At the Children’s Cardiological Hospital there is no waiting list. The children, boys and girls, and young people who arrive know that, at most, they will have to wait three or four weeks to receive a response to the heart condition that has arisen.”
