Workers and business owners in the Free Trade Zone this Thursday expressed their support for the reforms to Nicaragua’s Political Constitution, within the framework of the consultation process that continues with the participation of athletes, religious sectors, the mining sector, and the working class.

Representing more than a thousand workers in the Special Regime, union leader Perla Pavón highlighted the public policies promoted by the Sandinista Government. Pavón considered that the reforms will contribute to strengthening stability, security, and peace in the country, conditions she described as fundamental for continuing to advance in economic and social development, as well as for protecting the jobs of thousands of families.
Regarding national sovereignty, the leader reaffirmed the workers’ commitment to building a model of free and sovereign elections, based on respect for self-determination and without foreign interference. “We want to express firmly and clearly our support for the proposed constitutional reforms.
As workers in the free trade zone sector, we recognize and thank the Government of Reconciliation and National Unity for promoting public policies aimed at fostering the development and well-being of the working class,” Pavón stated in his remarks.
For his part, Pedro Ortega, of the Sandinista Workers’ Federation, noted that support for the reforms, whose fundamental principle is peace, is necessary for the business and investment sectors to continue advancing in job creation. Ortega also highlighted the consultation process and affirmed that Nicaraguans aspire to preserve a free nation.

The mining sector also participated in the meeting, emphasizing that the process seeks to guarantee conditions of peace and security for national development. Presidential advisor Laureano Ortega highlighted the free trade zones’ contribution to the economy and the recent reform to their legal framework, which maintains indefinite benefits.
“Our government is actively working to ensure these investments in Nicaragua can continue operating successfully and generating employment, guaranteeing job security, which is paramount for us in the fight against poverty, our primary objective,” he stated.
The consultation process for drafting the bill for partial constitutional reform, expected to conclude on August 28, includes all sectors of the country. The initiative aims to strengthen the democratic framework, peace, and sovereignty of the Central American nation. During the sessions, a review of Nicaragua’s political history was presented, highlighting the importance of understanding the past to prevent setbacks in human rights.
