Mexico City, August 18 (SinEmbargo).— Fernando Cerimedo, considered a key consultant for the South American ultra-right, was arrested this Tuesday at the Viru Viru airport, in Bolivia, as he was about to take a flight to Buenos Aires, Argentina. Cerimedo, who has worked for Argentine President Javier Milei; for Jair Bolsonaro, former president of Brazil; and with the current government of Bolivia, headed by Rodrigo Paz; among others, is accused of hiring two or three hitmen who shot his ex-partner, Nadia Beller.

Beller was shot three times on Monday night in a hotel in Santa Cruz de la Sierra and, according to the police report, the individuals pretended to be delivery motorcyclists. Cerimedo’s ex-partner, who is also the founder of the media outlet La Derecha Diario and CEO of Numen Publicidad, remains hospitalized and her condition is guarded.
According to Bolivian media, cited by the newspaper Página 12, Cerimedo and the lawyer Nadia Beller were a couple and there were scenes of violence in the relationship. The consultant claimed in recent days that this version is false and came out to denounce a campaign against him.

Cerimedo is now under investigation in Bolivia for the attack against Nadia Beller.

Cerimedo, who partnered with the ultra-right journalist Javier Negre, also a founder of La Derecha Diario and a friend of the Mexican businessman Ricardo Salinas Pliego, was a central figure in the campaign that brought Javier Milei to the Presidency in 2023. According to the Argentine newspaper La Voz, the consultant publicly admitted that he ran an “army of trolls” to intervene in social media algorithms and inflate the messages of then-candidate Milei with Artificial Intelligence (AI).
He was also responsible for organizing the groups of poll watchers for the so-called Libertarian Party in Argentina and acted as a key intermediary to arrange Milei’s interview with the American journalist Tucker Carlson, which was widely circulated.
Página 12 states that, on top of this, the consultant apprehended in Bolivia is a key witness in the Disability case, since he declared that Diego Spagnuolo, former director of the National Disability Agency and fired by Milei himself, told him that Karina Milei, the President’s sister, demanded “kickbacks” of three percent on operations with the Agency, together with Eduardo “Lule” Menem, cousin of former president Carlos Menem.
To the judicial process that Cerimedo now faces in Bolivia is added a process in Brazil, where the Federal Supreme Court is investigating him for an alleged attempted coup d’état in 2022. According to La Voz, he is accused of belonging to a nucleus intended to spread disinformation and attack the Brazilian electoral system.
And that is not all. In Argentina, in addition to the Disability case, he has a criminal conviction dating from 2016 for the crimes of fraud and swindling, as the Mar del Plata court imposed on him a sentence of two years and six months of suspended prison after selling the same apartment to two different people.
How was the attack against Nadia Beller?
The lawyer Nadia Beller was attacked on Monday night in the northern area of Santa Cruz de la Sierra, where two people who appeared to be delivery workers intercepted her.
The cameras captured the moment when, with their motorcyclist helmets, they approached the victim. One of the attackers drew a weapon and fired three times at Beller, who fell wounded at the scene, and so she was rushed to a medical center, where she remains hospitalized in guarded condition.
Anoche, la abogada y activista boliviana Nadia Beller fue atacada por 2 sicarios que le pegaron 3 tiros a quemarropa.

The attack led investigators to pursue several lines of inquiry to identify those responsible and determine whether there was a link to Javier Milei’s former adviser, who was taken to the facilities of the Special Force to Fight Crime (FELCC), where he was placed at the disposal of the Bolivian authorities.
The security camera recordings and other elements gathered during the first proceedings are also being analyzed to reconstruct the attack, identify those responsible, and determine what relationship they had with Beller.
