Tehran has imposed a series of equations on the US-Israeli alliance, using covert and asymmetric warfare tactics, that may have just set in motion a series of regional shifts. In this episode of The Target stream, Mint Press News’ Robert Inlakesh breaks down the local and global implications of these shocking developments.
US Central Command is choosing to simply ignore Iran’s ongoing drone and missile strikes, which target vessels attempting to violate the siege imposed on the Strait of Hormuz. Similarly, US-backed Kurdish-Iranian opposition groups are being subjected to round the clock strikes on their headquarters, training facilities and weapons depots, as the American military draws back and abandons its allies.
Meanwhile, Yemen’s Ansarallah led Armed Forces have continued to bombard strategic targets affiliated with their Saudi-backed opposition in Yemen. Satellite imagery, which is featured in this Thursday’s episode, reveals significant damage to the Port of Mokha that is controlled by Saudi proxy forces. Riyadh has sought to flood their allies with reinforcements, particularly along Yemen’s strategic Marib front, as the Yemeni Armed Forces strike Saudi’s Jazan Oil Facilities twice within forty-eight hours.
Mysterious precision drone strikes also continue to target oil related targets in north Africa. A number of drones struck Libya’s largest oil refinery in az-Zawiya, which comes a week after drones struck two petroleum storage tankers docked in Damietta, Egypt.
According to Iranian-State media, Tehran sent a direct threat to Damascus, through Ankara, communicating that if Syria attacks Lebanon, Iran will intervene militarily. This may have just worked to change the calculations of the Trump administration and his allies in Tel Aviv, who were pushing for a Syrian offensive against Lebanese Hezbollah.
Other major developments have also surfaced, like a major crisis aboard the USS Abraham Lincoln Aircraft Carrier. The carrier has been deployed for over 9 months and now faces a crisis in moral, a food shortage impacting 5,000 sailors and even reports of deaths and suicide attempts on board. The US Department of War has sought to replace the Aircraft Carrier with the USS George Washington, but faces domestic pushback over the embarrassing situation.
Will the occupied West Bank also explode in the face of enormous strain placed upon its people? Is this simply part of Israel’s plan to ethnically cleanse the Palestinian people from their lands, or could it dramatically backfire? Each front on this ever expanding war appears to be coming towards a head, all of which the latest edition of The Target investigates.
A US military in crisis, a dramatic loss of munitions and drained supply of drones are all indicators of a pending defeat for the empire. Can US President Donald Trump admit defeat and withdraw from the region with a deal, or is the Israel Lobby going to get the best of him?
