Images of an AI toddler making right-wing talking points

People on the right often complain that people treat them like they’re not intelligent. The problem is they often encourage that perception. For an example of that in action, here’s prominent right-wing journalist David Atherton sharing videos of artificial intelligence (AI) toddlers complaining about ‘woke’:

Listening to AI toddlers

The above AI video features a series of well-spoken toddlers in various scenarios:

  • Complaining about being sent home for not eating halal meat (“what the bloody hell has happened to Britain?”).
  • Working at StarBucks (“thanks to Labour I’ll be working until I’m 100, so I might as well start now”).
  • Complaining that grandad – a war veteran – was arrested for having a British flag up in his living room.
  • Travelling to Pakistan to claim benefits (“see how they like it”).
  • Being expelled after asking a history teacher to learn about the history of Britain.

You’ll note two things about these scenarios:

  • They never happened.
  • They’re not the sort of situations which are ever likely to happen.

And yet, as one commenter noted:

the right do love making up fake scenarios and getting really angry about them

Of course, the counter to all this is ‘it’s satire; it’s not supposed to make strict sense; it’s supposed to be funny‘. The problem is that many of them aren’t even trying to be funny. Also, the inherent creepiness of using AI toddlers just makes these things gross to watch.

It’s not outside the realms of possibility that some viewers believe these videos are real. They believe that Nigel Farage is looking out for them, after all; would it be any worse to believe these AI toddlers?

Dark and disturbing

Another point people have made is the following:

Personally I think it should be illegal to make AI of children. https://t.co/NdpuuaL0sY

People are right to be worried about AI tools, as it’s not long since the X/Twitter AI Grok allowed users to generate Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM). And generative AI tools can still create such materials when run remotely.

This latest AI toddler trend is demonstrative of how weird and self-victimising these people are. It’s also indicative of how the social media ecosystems people exist in have a tendency to make them weirder and angrier over time.
