The deputy commander of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), Brigadier General Yadollah Javani, said Monday the regional conflict must end under the terms of the memorandum of understanding signed with the United States, and he warned that the strategic Strait of Hormuz will not be reopened until Washington fully implements the agreement.

Speaking during a meeting with the Young Journalists Club, the senior military commander stressed that resolving hostilities requires strict compliance with the diplomatic commitments accepted by Washington.

The two sides signed a framework agreement on June 18 focused on freedom of maritime transit, but its operational development remains paralyzed due to serious disagreements over security protocols.

Tension in the area escalated critically between July 8 and 24 after U.S. military forces resumed bombings against Iranian territory. Tehran responded with operations targeting U.S. bases, installations and equipment deployed in various Arab countries, before resuming formal contacts on vessel transit.

Larger-scale hostilities began on February 28 with coordinated attacks by the United States and Israel, followed by Iranian defensive counterattacks against Israeli and U.S. targets in the region. Diplomatic negotiations remain stalled.
