During an interview with the Qatari network Al Jazeera, the president warned that the prolonged closure of this waterway constitutes a serious problem and deemed it necessary to normalize the global flow of oil as soon as possible.
Erdogan expressed his hope that the Strait of Hormuz could be freely opened to navigation and maintained that this option would favor maritime traffic and prevent disruptions in the international energy supply.
Addressing the Iranian attacks against Arab Gulf countries following the US and Israeli operations against Tehran, the Turkish head of state insisted that Ankara does not support war and accused Israel of playing a central role in the escalation.
The president also highlighted the work of Qatar and Pakistan as mediators between Washington and Tehran and expressed his confidence that both countries would maintain that role.
Erdogan reiterated Turkiye’s support for Gaza Strip and assured that Ankara would continue to fulfill its commitments to the Palestinian people.
Regarding the ceasefire process, he stated that Hamas had shown a willingness to move toward a second phase, while accusing Israel of maintaining a contrary stance by continuing its attacks on Gaza and Lebanon.
The Turkish president also noted that he had discussed the situation with his US counterpart, Donald Trump, and assured that Ankara would continue to issue warnings against any escalation.
