Zakharova told reporters that the Russian Foreign Ministry had requested explanations from Washington and Ankara regarding the information released by the US Congress.

The diplomat drew attention to what she sees as contradictions surrounding the terms of this potential transfer.

The spokeswoman questioned why the United States and Turkiye, “countries that aspire to play a role in resolving the Ukrainian conflict” and declare a priority the search for a political and diplomatic solution, would simultaneously be involved in a possible arms shipment to Kyiv.

Zakharova noted that the consequences would not be limited to casualties and destruction, but would also affect Moscow’s bilateral relations with Washington and Ankara.

Moscow has repeatedly stated that no supply of Western weapons will deter Russia’s determination to achieve its objectives in Ukraine, but will only serve to prolong hostilities and increase the number of casualties and damage.
