Israel has been caught in a new campaign to influence how AI chatbots answer questions about its genocidal military and its crimes in Gaza. Again.
The new campaign set up a fake ‘think tank‘ — the ‘Hanover Institute’ — to whitewash pro-Israel propaganda and fool chatbots. It comes after Israel’s earlier huge spending through a Trump-linked PR firm to pervert AI responses — and organised through the same French firm, Havas Media. The earlier campaign also targeted US churchgoers, in a so far unsuccessful attempt to halt Israel’s collapsing support among the US public.
Israel — Usual suspects
The revelations come after ‘FARA’ (Foreign Agents Registration Act’) documents showed that Havas subsidiary Piro ran more than a dozen articles on the ‘Hanover Institute for Public Policy’s website. As Politico noted, the campaign was designed to ‘create and disseminate’ supposedly:
factual, source-supported informational materials intended to educate the U.S. public regarding Israel and related issues through publicly distributed content.
But “factual” is doing some gargantuan lifting in that filing. The institute is a front and its website features dozens of unattributed articles parroting Israeli ‘hasbara’ talking points about the IOF, Gaza and other items designed to influence so-called ‘Large Language Models’ (LLMs). The torrent of nonsense appears to be succeeding in influencing chatbot responses, despite a site disclaimer admitting that:
This material is distributed by Piro, Inc. on behalf of Havas Media Germany GmbH on behalf of the Israel Government Advertising Agency (LaPam).
The site’s ‘meta’ info also links it to US firm Res, which helps organisations influence AI. But once Politico contacted Res for comment, all mentions of the firm quickly disappeared from the ‘Hanover Institute’ website.
The genocidal colony has massively increased its propaganda budget in 2026 as it tries to stem the haemorrhage of support in the US as Americans wake up to the reality of what the ethno-settlers are doing to their victims in Gaza, Lebanon and around the region.
