Venezuela will hold a new National Popular Consultation on Oct. 11, President Delcy Rodríguez announced, with condominium boards set to participate for the first time alongside community organizations in determining which local projects should receive funding.

The consultation will bring together Community Councils, Communes, Community Circuits and condominium boards across the country. The groups will identify priority projects for their communities, with financial resources allocated according to the needs they determine.

Delcy Rodríguez made the announcement during an event in Caracas where financial credits were delivered to 157 condominium communities in the parishes of El Paraíso, El Recreo and La Candelaria, as well as the La Florida area.

The funding will support maintenance and repairs in common areas, improvements to public-service systems and the rehabilitation of residential buildings.

Actin President also said the government was working to resolve the housing situation of families living in temporary camps, citing home construction, credit and financing programs, and rehabilitation work through Venezuela Renace as part of the effort.

“To those in temporary camps, we will solve their housing problem. We are pursuing every path, every avenue, building homes, providing credit, providing financing and rehabilitating through Venezuela Renace. It is a joint effort, but the most important thing is that it is done together with you.”

She said cooperation between state institutions and organized communities was essential to addressing housing needs and described the Oct. 11 consultation as a means of strengthening citizen participation and decentralizing the allocation of resources.

The consultation will expand the participation mechanism to condominium boards for the first time, alongside Community Councils, Communes and Community Circuits.
