Ebba Karlsson Says Authorities Failed to Act on Fears That Daniel Siad Could Be Killed Before He Could Face Investigation.
On Thursday, outlet BFMTV reported that Swedish exmodel Ebba Karlsson has decided to sue the French state for “denial of justice” following the death of Daniel Siad, whom she accused of rape and who was being investigated for his role as a recruiter of sexual victims for convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

On Feb. 10, Karlsson filed a complaint against Siad in Paris after recognizing him in declassified documents related to Epstein, in which he is cited in more than 1,000 documents.
The exmodel accuses Siad of taking her from Sweden to Monaco and France with the promise of a career in the fashion industry and subsequently raping her.
Karlsson who was 20 when the events she describes occurred, also accuses Gerald Marie, a former head of the Elite modeling agency, of rape. Siad introduced her to Marie.

Victims Feared Siad Would Be Killed
On July 20, Siad, 69, was found dead at his home in Colombes, on the outskirts of Paris. His death extinguished the public action against him, although the investigation into the French network in the Epstein case continues.
Karlsson maintains that French authorities failed to consider the complainants’ fear that Siad could be killed, and questions why he was not arrested before his death.
“We, the victims, were precisely afraid that he would be eliminated. We told the French authorities. Our fears were not taken into account,” she pointed out.
The exmodel also says they had been told that Siad was going to be arrested, but that the operation was repeatedly postponed. “Perhaps his arrest could have prevented his death,” she said.
According to the Nanterre prosecutor’s office, the autopsy found no signs of recent violence that could be linked to his death, but it also did not establish an immediate cause. Additional tests have been requested.

Second Death in French Network of Epstein Case
Before Siad, Jean-Luc Brunel, a former modeling agent and close associate of Epstein, also died. He committed suicide in 2022 in his cell at La Sante prison in Paris without being tried on the sexual assault allegations against him.
The investigation opened Feb. 18 into the French network of the Epstein case for human trafficking as part of an organized group and criminal conspiracy continues to identify other people who may have been involved.
Karlsson’s lawyer, Colomba Grossi, says the lawsuit against the state also aims to “put pressure” on authorities to ensure the investigations move forward within a reasonable time.
“I hope the French justice system takes this investigation seriously and understands that Paris was a platform for Epstein’s sex trafficking,” Karlsson said, demanding that Gerald Marie be questioned as soon as possible. She considers him a key figure in the case.
The “Innocence in Danger” association, which in 2019 made the first two reports to the Paris prosecutor’s office about the scope of the Epstein case in France and supports several complainants, has also sued the French state over unjustified delays in the investigation.
