Mexico City. The Mexican government’s Security Cabinet stated that it has no information or evidence of the alleged involvement of Raúl Guillermo Rodríguez Castro, grandson of former Cuban president Raúl Castro, with criminal groups dedicated to human trafficking operating in the state of Quintana Roo.
In an information note, it stated that, in relation to the report published by The New York Times about the criminal network called the “Cuban Mafia of Quintana Roo,” the institutions of the Security Cabinet “have no information or evidence of their own regarding the accusations attributed in that news report.”
Likewise, the Mexican authorities noted that they also have no information “about the alleged links between criminal organizations and foreign officials, or their relatives, referred to in the report.”
The Mexican government reiterated “its commitment to international cooperation in combating organized crime and human trafficking.”
The US newspaper published that Rodríguez Castro allegedly has ties to an organization dedicated to human trafficking.
