“I have patients on a radiotherapy waiting list, and they wait three or four months to receive treatment.” BT spoke with a doctor at the Institute of Oncology and Radiobiology in Havana on how the US blockade impacts patient treatment and overall functioning of the hospital. He told us, “The blockade affects our daily work in every possible way.” From the hospital’s inability to provide basic services due to lack of resources to cancer patients not receiving treatment due to a shortage of chemotherapy drugs, there is nothing left untouched by the blockade. On Sunday, members of the ALBA movement delivered critical medical supplies, along with toys for hospitalized children, to the institute. The delegates were part of the ALBA Movimientos Fourth Continental Assembly, which brought 190 delegates from 27 countries and representatives of more than 400 social and grassroots organizations to Havana to show solidarity with the Cuban Revolution.
