The brilliant Palestinian political analyst Muhammad Shehada has dismissed Benjamin Netanyahu’s rejection of Donald Trump’s ‘peace plan‘ as merely an “election stunt”.

The plan calls for the continuation of Hamas disarmament, which the resistance group has agreed to do. Yet the land theft project that goes under the name ‘Israel’ has rejected this.

Shehada says that Netanyahu:

…saying no to disarming Hamas [reveals] that genociding Gaza was never about disarming Hamas.

This has always been obvious to anyone listening to the land thieves who act out the role of politicians in the ‘Israeli’ Knesset. They have openly spoken of their desire to colonise Gaza, and continue the colonial project of expansion that the Zionist pseudo-state has always been.

Palestinian people suffering due to one of the most unhinged societies in history

Indeed, this was illustrated by Shehada again, when quoting from Giora Eiland, the “former Israeli general who pushed for weaponising famine and disease in Gaza”.

‘Israeli’ newspaper Maariv quotes the vile Eiland, saying that the Zionist terror regime must permanently steal the roughly 70% of land it has thus far grabbed in Gaza.

Genocidal Eiland also said:

It is better that Gaza be destroyed for generations to come.

Shehada elaborates on the predicament Netanyahu faced when Hamas agreed to disarm. Hamas realised that armed struggle is a non-starter at this point, believing currently that fighting “won’t move the needle” politically. Hence their move to lay down weapons and call the Zionists’ bluff.

Shehada says:

Israel is calling this a “diplomatic Oct 7” because they didn’t expect Hamas to ever agree to lay its weapons down. That’s why Israel made Hamas’ disarmament its sole talking point for why they are banning reconstruction in Gaza, expanding the yellow line & entrenching their troops’ presence on the ground.

The phrase “diplomatic Oct 7” means the apartheid entity squatting on historic Palestine sees the Hamas strategy as a diplomatic threat to Zionist objectives, equivalent to the military threat of the 7 October 2023 attack. It is reminiscent of the peculiar Zionist phrase “Palestinian peace offensive”.

The New Arab pointed out:

In 1982, a prominent Israeli strategic analyst, Avner Yaniv, coined the term…to describe the risk that Palestinians would become too moderate politically and Israel would be forced to make concessions.

This is the nature of an unhinged expansionist project that depends on relentless violence. It views peace initiatives by its targets as a threat to Zionist goals of constantly extending their illegal settler-colony’s borders.

Shehada goes on to point out:

…Hamas didn’t fire a single bullet despite Israel assassinating its entire top militant leadership, because they know armed escalation in Gaza is of no political value at this moment.

Hamas has remained disciplined in this regard despite the Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) continuing the Gaza holocaust by murdering over 1,200 Palestinians since Netanyahu signed a fraudulent ceasefire in October 2025.

Evil ‘Israeli’ society backs ongoing genocide

Netanyahu is now stuck, and in the words of Shehada, therefore needs to portray himself as “the only Israeli leader capable of withstanding American pressure and saying no [to the Trump plan]”.

The Trump plan itself is little more than a “colonial project” as the Canary’sCharlie Jaay wrote back in October 2025.

It absurdly calls for the disarmament of Hamas, yet not the terrorist IOF who have carried out a holocaust in Gaza. In the process, they have dropped the equivalent of at least six nuclear bombs on a civilian population crammed into a tiny strip of land, and carried out every imaginable atrocity.

Yet with so-called ‘Israel’, we are dealing with what is surely one of the most unhinged societies in human history. Therefore, even Trump’s plan to eliminate Palestinian self-determination and self-defence is insufficient.

A June 2025 poll showed 47% of ‘Israeli’-Jewish people backed a policy of “kill[ing] all…inhabitants” of Palestinian cities and 56% supported ethnic cleansing.

Meanwhile, 66% of ‘Israeli’-Jewish people describe themselves as right-wing and 14% say they are on the far right. Among younger people, the figures boggle the mind even more because 75% of first-time voters identify as right-wing.

These are the maniacs the war criminal Netanyahu feels he has to appease. Therefore, there must be no deal and no peace. Only more genocide, more ethnic cleansing, and more land theft to sate the bloodlust of a deeply ill society.
