Israeli settlers continue their violent campaign of intimidation, displacement and ethnic cleansing against Palestinians in the occupied West Bank.
On 9 August, colonisers from the nearby Susya settlement attacked residents of Wadi Rakhim village in Masafer Yatta, south of Hebron.
Israeli settlers devastate family-of-three
During the attack settlers opened fire on residents and threw stones. Five Palestinians were assaulted and beaten while Mohammed Shiniran (pictured below), was shot in the shoulder and taken to hospital.
Mohammed’s two sons were shot on 7 March by Luria Lusky, an illegal settler who wore a military reserve uniform.
Sadly, 27-year-old Amir was killed while his brother Khaled was hospitalised with shrapnel near his spine. It has been reported that he is now paralysed as a result.
Luria and his brother, Shem Tov Lusky, are from a well-known settler family and frequently attack nearby Palestinian villages.
In the village of Idhna, west of Hebron, settlers established a new outpost on village farmland. They erected a tent and brought in a herd of goats. More settlers then arrived in cars and assaulted residents.
IOF help settlers attack Palestinians
The settlers were then joined by the Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) and they attacked a mosque in the village, forcing worshippers outside. Seven men were blindfolded and abducted.

The following day in Idhna, Mahmoud al Rahman was grazing his sheep, when the IOF opened fire. They killed three of his livestock and injured others.
Later that day, in the same area, the IOF killed and injured Muataz al-Jiyawi’s livestock.
Settlers cut off supplies, forcing residents to leave
In Qusra, south of Nablus, settlers have set up a new outpost inside the property of a Palestinian family on the Western outskirts of the town. They came from the nearby outpost on Jabal Ein Eina Hill and set up a tent next to the family’s home.
Although the family still remains inside their house, these illegal colonists now control access to and from the property.

The settlers are now using the same tactic they successfully used when they besieged the Al-Tubasi family home.
For three months, they escalated their campaign of harassment against the family. Eventually surrounding and isolating the two Al-Tubasi family homes. They blocked access and completely cut off water, food, medicines and electricity supplies.
The family knew the identity of their attackers, so sent photos, vehicle details and other useful information to the Israeli occupation police, and international organisations working in the West Bank. But nobody came to help. The Al-Tubasi family had no choice but to leave their homes.
These are not isolated incidents and illustrate a widening pattern of settler expansion backed by the IOF across the occupied West Bank. New outposts are being established at an unprecedented rate, while access to homes and farmland is increasingly being blocked. The daily reality for a growing number of Palestinian communities is siege, violence and displacement.
There can be no hope of change unless the international community starts to enforce accountability. This means ending the impunity that shields Israel, the Zionist regime and its illegal colonisers. It means destroying illegal outposts and holding the Israeli occupation to its obligations under international law.
