Meta CEO Defends Broadly Distributed Superintelligence and Says It Could Create More Jobs.

On Monday, Meta Director Mark Zuckerberg published a manifesto in which he argues that the biggest risk of artificial intelligence (AI) is that a single entity or government has too much control over the technology.

In the document, titled ‘The Future Is for Everyone,’ the creator of Facebook advocates widely distributing superintelligence to empower individuals.

Zuckerberg argues that the notion that AI is so dangerous that the only safe path is an extreme concentration of power is problematic. In this regard, he implicitly criticizes the approaches of rival companies such as Anthropic and OpenAI, which have called for strict controls on the technology.

According to the Meta founder, invention, not automation, will be superintelligence’s greatest contribution. He argues that too much intervention or any policy that delays the release of U.S. models, even by one month, could add significant risk to U.S. leadership compared with foreign models, allowing China to take the lead.

Zuckerberg Believes AI Will Offer More Jobs

Contrary to catastrophic narratives, the Meta CEO predicts that widely distributed superintelligence will generate more jobs in the future, not fewer.

Zuckerberg expects the economy to become more entrepreneurial, as it will be significantly easier to start businesses without the need to raise large sums of capital.

Regarding local infrastructure, Zuckerberg announced the launch of the “The Future Is for Everyone Fund,” which has US$1 billion earmarked for U.S. communities where Meta owns and operates data centers. Its goal is to benefit teachers, first responders and energy and water infrastructure.

Simultaneously with the publication of the 14-page manifesto, Meta launched Muse Glimmer, an open-source version of its most powerful AI model. The new tool can generate code, text and images, and is almost identical to its closed Muse Spark model.
