The Tremor Was Felt Across Much of Colombia and in Several Provinces of Ecuador and Panama.
On Monday, the Colombian Geological Service (SGC) confirmed that a magnitude 7.4 earthquake shook much of Colombia, causing damage in cities such as Manizales, Cali and Pereira.

The tremor was felt at 7:34 a.m. local time and was centered in the town of San Jose del Palmar, in the department of Choco, located on the Pacific coast, at a depth of 82 kilometers.
The earthquake was felt in Bogota, Cali, Popayan, Manizales, Armenia, Pereira, Medellin and other cities in the central and western parts of the country, and some of them reported material damage.
In Cali and Manizales, parts of the facades of many buildings broke away, and in the latter city, one of the cathedral’s towers was damaged. “There are many cracked buildings,” Cali Mayor Alejandro Eder said in comments to Blu Radio, with no reports of casualties so far.
In Pereira, the capital of the department of Risaralda, numerous buildings suffered significant structural damage, including the airport, and some partially collapsed.
Bogota Mayor Carlos Fernando Galan said that, for now, “there are no reports of impacts or structural damage, only some cracks in buildings.”
Several injured people and collapsed buildings were left this Monday in the Colombian city of Quibdo, capital of the department of Choco, located on the Pacific coast, by the 7.4 magnitude earthquake.
“We have just experienced a serious seismic event in the department of Choco. Although the epicenter was San Jose del Palmar, in the capital Quibdo there are injuries and serious damage to buildings,” the governor of Choco, Nubia Carolina Cordoba, said in her X account.

The Earthquake Was Felt in Several Provinces of Ecuador.
The magnitude 7.4 earthquake that shook much of Colombia was felt in several provinces of Ecuador. In Quito, the Ecuadorian capital, the earthquake was felt particularly strongly in high-rise buildings.
In several areas of the Andean province of Imbabura, which is closer to the border with Colombia, residents strongly felt the tremor and left their homes as a precaution.
The Geophysical Institute of the National Polytechnic School received reports from residents who said they also felt the earthquake in the tropical provinces of Santo Domingo de los Tsachilas, Los Rios, Esmeraldas, Guayas and Manabi.

Authorities evacuate buildings and hospitals in Panama.
On Monday, several regions of eastern Panama were shaken this Monday by the 7.4 magnitude earthquake with its epicenter in Colombia, indicated the Institute of Geosciences of the University of Panama.
In this Central American country, the vibrations of the earthquake lasted up to a minute and were felt in the provinces of Darien and East Panama.
In the Panamanian capital and satellite cities, numerous buildings were evacuated preventively, including health centers such as the Santiago Barraza polyclinic in La Chorrera.
People stood outside the buildings for a while, a measure supported by relief authorities, who asked to remain calm and return to the structures as long as they were not damaged.
About an hour after the event, no material damage or damage to people due to the earthquake had been reported in Panama, according to the competent authorities.
