The Lebanese Ministry of Public Health announced Sunday that Israel’s latest military offensive, which began on March 2, has killed 4,335 people and injured 12,277 across the country.

Emergency crews are still pulling bodies from debris as of August 9, according to the government’s Emergency Operations Center.

Rescue operations have been able to reach southern affected zones only since late June, when a security framework accord was signed between Israel and Lebanon, the Emergency Operations Center explained. That agreement led to a reduction in attacks, enabling teams to access the area. Nevertheless, Zionist forces have not ceased their activities.

On Sunday, artillery fire struck intermittently in the Nabatieh district, specifically between Mayfadoun and Zawtar al Sharqiya, the National News Agency (NNA) reported. The NNA also detailed heavy shelling from midnight on the Ali Taher hills, the outskirts of Nabatieh al Fawqa, and Kfar Ruman, along with a major blast carried out by the Israeli military in Zawtar al Sharqiya.

President Joseph Aoun confirmed that negotiations are making positive headway, centering on border disagreements and the release of Lebanese detainees, though he gave no specifics on a ceasefire.

Hezbollah is absent from the negotiating table, opposes the government’s engagement with Tel Aviv, and refuses to back the framework accord. Its position is that the deal aims at political gains while doing nothing to stop the assaults or the Israeli military footprint in Lebanon.
