The Centro Caribe Sports Executive Committee officially activated this Friday the evaluation roadmap for Caracas to host the 2030 Central American and Caribbean Games, launching a strict technical review process.
The regional sporting authority approved the official schedule to analyze the comprehensive proposal submitted by the Venezuelan Olympic Committee (COV, in Spanish).
This administrative step initiates the formal assessment of the technical and operational viability of the Caracas project, though it does not represent the final designation of the host city.

The official procedure establishes a strict 90-day deadline for the national Olympic body to deliver the detailed dossier to the regional organization. Once the documentation is submitted, the Future Host Commission will have a 30-day window to coordinate an on-site technical inspection of the sports facilities in the Venezuelan capital.
Following the inspection, the commission will have an additional 30-day period to submit the final report to the Executive Committee. This governing body will then decide whether to convene the Extraordinary General Assembly, where the member nations will cast the decisive votes to determine the official host.

The decision represents the formal start of the procedure established in the Statutes and Regulations of Centro Caribe Sports to analyze the technical, financial, political and institutional feasibility of the candidacy, without this involving the designation of Caracas as the venue of the regional meeting.”
2030 Candidacy Advances
The candidacy has the full backing of the Venezuelan government, which formally endorsed the project in May 2026 when the Venezuelan Olympic Committee President María Soto presented the initial request. Luis Mejía Oviedo, president of Centro Caribe Sports, emphasized that the approved timeline ensures an objective, transparent, and rigorous evaluation process according to the organization’s charter.
If the technical reports are favorable and the assembly votes in favor, Caracas would host the prestigious regional event again after a 71-year interval, having previously welcomed the athletes in 1959. This designation would also mark the third time Venezuela hosts the games, following the successful Maracaibo 1998 edition.
The prospective event in 2030 marks the XXVI edition of the oldest continuous regional multi-sport event in the world. Venezuelan authorities have already begun outlining plans to revitalize major sports venues in the capital, including the Brígido Iriarte Stadium and the United Nations Park, ensuring they meet contemporary international standards.
The Venezuelan Olympic Committee has expressed that hosting the 2030 regional games will serve as a powerful catalyst for athletic development in South America and the Caribbean, promoting youth participation and upgrading national sports infrastructure. Venezuela has historically maintained a strong athletic presence in these games, consistently finishing among the top countries in the overall medal table.
The 90-day document preparation phase will focus on demonstrating how the city plans to manage logistics, security, and athlete accommodation efficiently.
