In an effort to strengthen sustainable urban development, Acting President Delcy Rodríguez has led a high-level working meeting with representatives of prestigious international seismic engineering and technology firms, aiming to strengthen the nation’s structural resilience and coordinating advanced urban reconstruction plans.
The meeting, held this Wednesday, August 5, included the participation of the global firm Miyamoto International, a specialist in structural engineering and seismic risk management, represented by its founder and CEO, Dr Hideki “Kit” Miyamoto. Miyamoto arrived in Venezuela with the backing of the US empire and is regarded by many analysts as a US operator, despite his international credentials in earthquake-resistant construction, generating concern over his true objectives in involvement in reconstruction in Venezuela given the empire’s consistent attempts to take control of Venezuelan infrastructure.
His visit has further prompted many Chavistas to question the background of Riken Yamamoto, another internationally renowned Japanese architect who met with President Nicolás Maduro several times in recent years.
Yamamoto, winner of the 2024 Pritzker Architecture Prize, met with President Maduro in July 2025 to discuss urban renewal projects proposed for the working-class Caracas neighborhoods of Petare and San Agustín.
With these actions, the Venezuelan government claimed it is reaffirming its commitment to sustainable urban development, cutting-edge international technical cooperation, and the optimization of the State’s structural capacities to guarantee the safety of the Venezuelan people.
During the meeting, the acting president was accompanied by Francisco Garcés, minister for transportation; Jorge Rodríguez, president of the National Assembly; Anabel Pereira Fernández, minister for economy and finance; Juan José Ramírez, minister for public works; Oliver Blanco, first deputy foreign minister; and Alejandro Puglia, president of the International Center for Productive Investment (CIIP).
Also present was TFI Solutions, a company dedicated to technological solutions and comprehensive project management, represented by its CEO, Noah Schochet, and lead engineer Daniel Cavero Rodríguez.

Following the meeting’s conclusion, Jorge Rodríguez published a message on social media highlighting that progress being made in technological and seismic engineering alliances with the aim of guaranteeing the safety of the country’s infrastructure.
