Venezuela is advancing the restoration of more than 13,000 homes damaged by the recent twin earthquakes, with the first rehabilitated apartments now being handed over to displaced families as part of a nationwide recovery program expected to benefit 66,000 people.

The first 60 restored apartments were delivered at the Ana Victoria housing complex in Vargas municipality, La Guaira state, allowing families who had been living in temporary shelters to return to permanent homes.

Acting President Delcy Rodríguez said community brigades and state agencies remain deployed across the country under the Venezuela Renace Plan and the Presidential Commission to restore damaged housing in all affected states.

In La Guaira, Governor José Alejandro Terán said the 60 apartments are the first of 3,938 units being rehabilitated through 21 active work fronts. He said the project is enabling families to leave emergency tents and move back into their homes.

Terán said technical inspections certified the safety of all 32 structural columns in the repaired buildings and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to fully restore every affected housing development in the state.

The Ana Victoria complex comprises 270 homes across nine buildings. Officials said the site was declared safe following engineering assessments and repair work carried out by the Office of the Vice Presidency for Public Works and Services, the Single Authority for Emergency Response and the Housing Commission.

Authorities said technical teams were able to preserve structures previously considered at risk through coordinated emergency intervention.

The remaining 3,878 apartments in La Guaira will be delivered in phases under the official reconstruction schedule as reconstruction work continues across other earthquake-affected states.
