Fain Aide Removed Over Death Threat Against UAW Prez Candidate
Earlier today, the UAW suspended one of Fain’s top aides, Raymond Jensen, for posting a death threat against socialist Will Lehman, who has emerged as one of Fain’s fiercest critics.
He was previously assistant director of UAW District 9A and now works for the UAW’s Department of Organizing and Bargaining Strategies directly under the supervision of UAW President Shawn Fain.
On July 16th, Jensen posted an AI-generated image on Lehman’s Facebook page of Lehman tied, bound, gagged, and bleeding from the mouth as a masked gunman pointed an automatic rifle at his head. Lehman viewed Jensen’s post as a death threat and found himself frustrated by Fain’s refusal to investigate.
Then, on July 30th during the UAW Presidential Forum, Lehman repeatedly asked Fain to denounce the death threat; Fain ignored Lehman’s request to denounce the threats.
At one point, Will Lehman literally held up a picture of the threat during the presidential forum, and Fain still refused to say anything. (Click below to watch the moment)
Lehman reported the threat to UAW Federal Monitor Neil Barofsky, who investigated the matter and agreed that the threat was out of line. As a result, Jensen was suspended from the UAW for two years as the matter faces further investigation. (Read the full Monitor’s investigation here)
“The only reason there was a response was because workers intervened. There was a lot of blowback from (the post),” Lehman told the Detroit Free Press. “It’s not a victory of mine, it’s a victory of the rank and file against the bureaucracy of the UAW.”

Mount Nittany Reduces Offer to Union After 5-Day Strike.
Last week, over 950 hospital workers at Mount Nittany Medical Center in Central Pennsylvania went on a five-day strike (the maximum allowed under the law).
Now, after returning to work, Mount Nittany, the second-largest employer in Center County, is offering workers even less.
"It feels like Mount Nittany executives want to retaliate against us for standing up for our patients and community,” Tom Brezler, a unionized hospital worker, told WPSU. “I’m deeply disappointed by the hospital’s approach to go lower. Just weeks ago, Mount Nittany claimed that they were doing their best to recruit and retain staff.”
Argentinian Maritime Pilots Win Strike After Standing
In Argentina, maritime pilots, who work at Argentina’s principal grain ports, walked off the job in protest of Millei’s decrees that they felt could be used to union-bust and eliminate union jobs in the ports. The workers’ strike stranded at least 45 ships in Argentina’s harbors.
Now, after flexing their muscle, the Millei government has reached a deal with them that workers are celebrating.

Chinese Human Rights Lawyer Released from Moshannon
Finally, Chinese human rights lawyer Wu Shaoping was released from ICE’s Moshannon Detention Center after outcry from immigration activists nationwide. An electronic ankle bracelet is now tracking him as his immigration case awaits a hearing.
Shaoping says the electronic ankle bracelet has brought him shame and limited his freedom. However, he says he is confident he can win his case and is enthusiastic about all the support he received from the Lancaster area.
“I am very confident in my case,” Wu said through a translator Sunday. “I believe Americans still believe in the rule of law.”
