Brazilian president vows to confront any foreign interference in the October elections.
On Wednesday, the Genial/Quaest partnership released a voting intention poll according to which Brazilian President Lula da Silva (Workers’ Party) continues to lead a simulation of a possible runoff against Sen. Flavio Bolsonaro (Liberal Party).

Lula received 44% of voter support, while the far-right politician received 39%. Meanwhile, 13% of respondents said they would cast a blank or null ballot, and 4% remained undecided.
In other simulated alternative runoff scenarios, the Workers’ Party leader would also defeat candidates Renan Santos (Missão Party), Ronaldo Caiado (Social Democratic Party), and Romeu Zema (Novo Party).
Genial/Quaest is a joint electoral polling initiative conducted by Quaest Institute and sponsored by Genial Bank. The initiative provides voting intention data for Brazil’s 2026 general elections, covering the presidential, senatorial, and gubernatorial races.
The electoral survey, which is registered with Brazil’s Superior Electoral Court, uses a quantitative polling methodology based on in-person, face-to-face interviews with 2,004 people across Brazil.
The data was collected between July 31 and Aug. 3. The poll has a margin of error of 2 percentage points and a confidence level of 95%.

The text reads: “Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva stated that he will not accept lies about the country and warned that no one will be able to defeat the nation or interfere from abroad to influence the elections. The president indicated that if the U.S. Secretary of State wants to travel to Brazil to campaign for his opponent, he is free to do so, and that he welcomes it, as he intends to defeat them all at the polls. He also emphasized that the Brazilian people are in charge in Brazil and that he is the one who governs, asking that no one interfere, and stressing that he doubts there is a more honest electoral system than Brazil’s.“
Brazil Will Not Allow Attempts at Foreign Interference
On Wednesday, President Lula da Silva warned that his administration would confront any attempt at foreign interference in the elections amid growing diplomatic tensions with the United States.
“Brazil is not only prepared, but it will confront anyone from outside who wants to interfere in our electoral process,” he said in an interview with scientific news outlet Meteoro Brasil.
During the interview, Lula focused on tensions with the U.S. government, which revoked the visa of the Brazilian ambassador. The move came in retaliation after Brazil declined to grant agrement to Daniel Perez, who was nominated by President Donald Trump as ambassador to Brazil.
Lula recalled that Brazil had to deny visas to two Americans who intended to travel to Brazil to “monitor” and “investigate” the electronic voting machines. He linked those decisions to a lack of respect toward Brazil and questioned the United States’ attempt to impose its own conditions on the country.
“That is neither right nor possible. We want to be treated with respect,” Lula said, adding that Brazil’s electronic voting system has historically demonstrated its reliability.
