On Tuesday, Jamaica won the gold medal in the 4×100 mixed relay at the Santo Domingo 2026 Central American and Caribbean Games after the disqualification of the Dominican Republic and Mexico, whose teams had crossed the finish line in podium positions.

The Jamaican team, made up of Adrian Kerr, Jura Levy, Travis Williams, and Niesha Burgher, stopped the clock at 41.06 seconds, surpassing Cuba, which took the silver with a time of 41.18.
The Dominican quartet, composed of Liranyi Alonso, Fiordaliza Coffil, Mayobanex De Oleo, and Jose Gonzalez, had celebrated their victory before the official decision was announced, while Mexico was also disqualified without further details being provided.
The Cuban delegation was represented by Reynaldo Espinosa, Yarima Garcia, Giorvis Dominguez, and Yunisleidy Garcia, who reaffirmed the strength of Cuban athletics in sprint events.
Jamaica’s netball team will be aiming to secure a second consecutive victory at the Central American and Caribbean Games when they take on Bermuda today. The match is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m.

The bronze medal went to Puerto Rico, with Adrian Canales, Frances Colon, Eloy Benitez, and Gladimar Torres, while Colombia, Venezuela, and Barbados finished in fourth through sixth place.
The day also saw victories for Cuba in field hockey against Trinidad and Tobago, and in women’s handball, where a narrow win against Puerto Rico secured their place in the final.
High jumper Jorge Hodelin earned one of the day’s gold medals, while in baseball, Cuba suffered a defeat against Panama in the Super Round. And in sprint canoeing, Cubans Geduar Gonzalez and Christian Cuellar secured their spots in Final A of their respective events.
