Following Spain’s victory over Argentina on July 19, the players have been vacationing in various destinations.

On Tuesday, Spanish footballer Lamine Yamal, a member of Spain’s 2026 World Cup-winning team and Barcelona star, caused a sensation with his visit to Cartagena de Indias in Colombia, where he is spending his vacation.

Cartagena Mayor Dumek Turbay Paz celebrated Yamal’s presence on social media, highlighting that “sports stars choose the most beautiful city in Latin America.”

Yamal was seen strolling through the historic center accompanied by his security team, while numerous fans approached to greet him and take pictures with the young global football star.

Following Spain’s victory over Argentina on July 19, the players have been vacationing in various destinations. Yamal shared photos of himself relaxing with his family and partner.

The cultural ties between Cartagena and Spain enhance its appeal to Iberian travelers, and Yamal has shown an affinity for Colombian music, especially reggaeton produced in Medellin.

In 2024, after winning the European Championship, he posted a video with Nico Williams singing Ryan Castro’s “The Rhythm That Unites Us” and recently shared photos with friends and a Colombian flag.

Although he has no direct connection to the country, his parents are from Morocco and Equatorial Guinea; his connection to Colombia comes through urban music, which is increasingly conquering international stages.
