Hundreds of cyclists gathered in Milwaukee to ride in memory of Alex Pretti — who often participated in the city’s annual Riverwest24 community bike ride — as well as other victims of violence at the hands of federal immigration agents. The event’s memorial lap was accompanied by an altar honoring victims and a “ghost bike,” painted white to honor cyclists who have died.  Pretti was shot and killed by ICE agents in Minneapolis on January 24 as he was offering medical aid to a woman who had been pushed to the ground and pepper-sprayed while observing an immigration enforcement operation. His death, following that of Renee Good weeks earlier, fueled national outrage and a general strike that forced the end of Operation Metro Surge and the firing of former Border Control Commander Greg Bovino.
