Some mosquitoes really are picky eaters. They will not just stick their proboscis into any old human. We know this anecdotally, with some people claiming they are always bitten while others are completely ignored, though we don’t really know why.

I’m one of those people who are mosquito magnets, specifically my legs. Doesn’t matter what state I’ve lived in in or visited the US or when I’ve been to Brazil, they always target me more than anyone else I’m around. If I’m out at night I have to use mosquito repellent or they will eat me alive. Even with repellent I get bit. I shower daily since I work outside all day, I just don’t understand why I’m the magnet.
Maybe they should study me next.
