Authorities Assess Damage, Treat Tens of Thousands of Injured, and Advance Reconstruction Efforts.
On Monday, Venezuelan Parliament President Jorge Rodriguez presented updated figures on the June 24 double earthquake, which left 6,125 people dead.

Weeks after the seismic event occurred, rescue operations continued uninterrupted in the hardest-hit areas of the country, allowing specialized teams to rescue 6,462 people alive after they had been trapped beneath the rubble of collapsed buildings.
The public health network and emergency medical posts have treated 60,992 people who suffered injuries, trauma or other health conditions resulting directly and indirectly from the natural disaster.
In the housing sector, technical brigades and civil engineers have carried out a massive inspection operation that has evaluated 43,679 properties in the affected areas to determine the extent of structural damage.

Of the homes evaluated under the affected status, authorities determined that 25,325 properties are habitable following minor repairs, while 9,866 are subject to use restrictions and 6,433 have been classified as high risk because of the danger of collapse.
As part of immediate response plans to mitigate the housing crisis and assist those displaced by the disaster, the government of Acting President Delcy Rodriguez has delivered 287 new homes to families that lost everything during the earthquake.
Finally, urban cleanup and road clearance operations are advancing with the deployment of heavy machinery, resulting in the removal of 346,755 tons of debris, representing 16.51% progress toward the complete clearance of the devastated areas to make way for reconstruction.
