Amidst horrifying announcements of new dystopian weapons systems and major war plans at the NATO Summit that happened a few weeks ago in Ankara, Turkiye, we got an unexpected glimmer of good news many people missed. Despite aggressive promotion in the lead-up, Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney failed to get support from any G7 countries or large NATO members for his war bank— the DSRB NATO launch was a political embarrassment.

Despite initial claims that the G7 and major NATO players were on board, in Turkey what was announced in Turkey is that the DSRB—Carney’s War Bank—would not be backed by any other major powers.

That said, he’s still trying to push ahead with this unpopular, irresponsible, and deceitful “defence” bank—this commitment to profiteering from perpetual war in the guise of economic development—alongside 8 smaller countries currently on board to launch the DSRB with Canada.

Carney and the 8 new countries he has secured as partners – Albania, Belgium, Greece, Latvia, Luxembourg, Romania, Türkiye, and Ukraine – are rushing to get this bank launched. Which means we have to double down on our fight to shut down the DSRB before it can start.
