ACTIVISTS yesterday welcomed US President Donald Trump’s claims of an outline deal with Iran today — but warned there can be no lasting peace in the Middle East while the US military maintains such a huge presence there.

Mr Trump said today that he was holding off on a widely expected attack on Iran. Posting to social media, he claimed the emerging deal “would include the immediate, complete, and total opening of the Hormuz Strait, and an end to Iran’s nuclear threat.
