At least two people were injured this Saturday after an Israeli drone attack against a neighborhood in the town of Nabatieh al Fawqa, in southern Lebanon, while artillery shelling was recorded in different areas, official sources reported.

The Israeli drone launched a guided missile attack this afternoon against the Al Aqida neighborhood, indicated the Lebanese National News Agency (ANN), without giving further details on the condition of the injured.
This attack comes at a time when the Israeli Army is intensifying its artillery shelling throughout southern Lebanon.
The ANN reported this Saturday that towns and cities in the south, especially those located in the so-called ‘yellow line’ – the strip that Israeli troops occupy in the country – and its surroundings “are living in a state of tension” after massive Israeli explosions.
Likewise, it detailed that the Israeli Army fired heavy machine guns and deployed armored patrols along the roads in the Saf al Hawa area, up to Bint Jbeil; district where they also demolished several houses and set others on fire.

It also reported that an Israeli patrol boat opened fire on fishing boats off the coast of Mansouri, in front of the city of Al Bayada, in an attempt to prevent them from fishing in the area.
The situation generates concern for both the Lebanese government and international organizations, especially after a “huge and unprecedented” explosion perpetrated by Israeli forces on both sides of the historic Beaufort castle yesterday.
The office of the interim UN Special Coordinator for Lebanon, Jean Arnault, expressed this Saturday his deep concern about “the magnitude of the bombings and demolitions” in the south, “given their devastating impact on civil infrastructure, cultural heritage and the collective memory of local communities.”
“This escalation in the pace of destruction must stop, while diplomatic channels remain open to address any pending issues,” the message added.
Israel and Lebanon will hold a new round of talks in Rome from August 4 to 6, led by the United States, with the aim of advancing in the implementation of the security framework signed in June, consolidating the withdrawal of Israeli troops and their replacement by the Lebanese Army.
