Palestinian resistance group Hamas declared Friday that it will not take any disarmament measures until Israeli military forces fully withdraw from the Gaza Strip and fulfill their obligations under the ceasefire agreement, a position backed by negotiating delegation member Ghazi Hamad.
Hamad specified that the handover of weapons is directly linked to the Zionist withdrawal and the commencement of reconstruction efforts in the devastated enclave, according to his statements to Al Jazeera.
The Palestinian representative clarified that Tel Aviv will have no role whatsoever in the disarmament process, which will instead be executed by a Palestinian national committee, and emphasized that Hamas will not implement any action if Israel does not first meet its commitments.

While expressing gratitude for the mediation provided by Egypt, Qatar, and Turkiye, Hamad described the negotiations as “difficult and tough” and asserted that Hamas sought to guarantee the best possible outcome without ceasing its commitment to protecting the rights of the Palestinian people.

The ceasefire was signed under Trump’s 20-point plan for Gaza, under the supervision of the Peace Board chaired by the U.S. president. Although the truce began on October 10, 2025, Israel has maintained daily attacks across Gaza, killing 1,214 Palestinians and injuring 3,977 while causing widespread destruction, in addition to continuing to occupy Gazan territory beyond the “yellow line”—the virtual withdrawal demarcation agreed upon in October 2023.

The genocidal military escalation imposed on Gaza since 2023 has left a toll of over 73,000 Palestinians killed and more than 174,000 injured, while destroying nearly 90% of the enclave’s infrastructure.
