US sanctions on Havana are blocking thousands of shipments of critical aid from reaching Cuba, leaving more than 7,000 containers stranded at Caribbean ports. Foreign Trade Minister Oscar Pérez-Oliva Fraga told Cuba’s parliament Wednesday the shipments contain much needed food, medicines and drinking water supplies, “legally acquired by our country, in accordance with international trade regulations.” Pérez-Oliva Fraga blasted “those who are trying to prevent the arrival of these goods, those who remain impassive, allowing this genocide to be committed, and those who are bowing to the interests of the US in this endeavor,” saying he holds them accountable for the loss of innocent Cuban lives.
