Since being brought back into the ministerial fold, Fianna Fáil TD Robert Troy has almost trebled his money on a rental property investment and bought out his business partner on a separate investment property now worth around €1 million.
The junior minister’s three-unit rental property in Mullingar’s Mary Street is sale-agreed for €300,000 – almost three times what he paid in 2018.
It was earning Troy €26,000 a year in rental income, according to the advertisement.
Meanwhile Troy now owns all of a residential investment property on Rathdown Road, Dublin 7 after paying around €454,000 to buy his business partner’s half share last year.
The property, split into four flats, is believed to be earning Troy more than €6,000 a month in rental income.
Troy and Greyhound trainer John Noel McGiveney bought the property for €545,000 in 2015 and it’s now valued at around €1 million.
Priorfilia Ltd, 100 percent owned by the Westmeath TD, is the registered owner of the redbrick house since August last year.
The Mullingar-based TD owns 10 properties according to his most recent Dáil ethics return.
Troy resigned as a minister of state in August 2022 after The Ditch reported he failed to declare his property interests.
In December 2024 a SIPO investigation report found he contravened ethics legislation. He was rewarded with reappointment as a minister of state by Fianna Fáil taoiseach Micheál Martin the next month.
