Mexico City. In a context marked by the escalation of United States attacks against Cuba, dozens of people are holding a march for the 73rd anniversary of the assault on the Moncada Barracks, considered the start of the Revolution led by Fidel Castro against the dictatorship of Fulgencio Batista.
The mobilization, which began shortly after 11:00 a.m. heading toward the former US embassy, will also be carried out as an act of solidarity with the island and in rejection of the recent threats of aggression and invasion made by President Donald Trump, emphasized Francisco Rosas, coordinator of the Colectivo Solidaridad Militante Va Por Cuba.

“Solidarity mobilization of all sister peoples becomes urgent, because Cuban sovereignty must be defended, but in that process also the sovereignty of all countries and the right to free self-determination,” stated Jaime García, a member of this collective.
Olivia Garza, vice president of the Association of Cubans Residing in Mexico “José Martí,” affirmed that this July 26 they are taking to the streets in the unitary march to stress that the real threat is the blockade imposed by the United States more than six decades ago.
“Cuba is not alone. Cuba is not a threat; the blockade is. The solidarity of the Mexican people is present in this battle that we must make great in the face of imperialist aggression,” she expressed.

“No to the war against Cuba. Down with the blockade! To defend Cuba is to defend Mexico,” reads a banner leading the mobilization.

At the Hemiciclo, members of the Association of Cubans Residing in Mexico, along with peasant and solidarity organizations, gathered, expressing with Cuban flags their support for the island’s sovereignty. “Cuba yes, Yankees no!” are some of the chants they shout.
In front of the Hemiciclo, a “Tlalmanali” altar was set up, where attendees perform a ritual greeting to the directions of the native peoples.

The walk has as its destination the former United States Embassy in Mexico, on Paseo de la Reforma, where, in a statement backed by a hundred civil organizations and collectives, they will express their rejection of the economic, commercial, and financial blockade imposed on the island.
